Kent Camshafts,
Lads, On Ebay, They re selling a kent preformance camshaft kit, they quote 15hp increase, the kit cost £259, seems a bit expensive for just 15hp gains, plus for somone like myself, whio has never attempted any head work b4, There will be extra costs for a garage to install.
Any thoughts on this,

Re: Kent Camshafts,
Id say 15hp for £259 is reasonably good considering, depends if it delivers that with what you have. That cam seems to cover all cvh which would include 1.6, so gains could be quoted for that

Re: Kent Camshafts,
You have the 1.4 CVH right?
No way will you gain 15hp... be lucky to get 5hp.
Garrage... price up a cambelt change and add on an hours extra labour for changing the camshaft...
Not cheap, could be best part of £500 for the labour and the cam kit... and for 5-10hp?
You can fit a 1.6 cvh in there and use the spare cash for insurance..; with better gains!
EDIT:
Saying that, you would probabbly get 10hp... but 5hp is probabbly a gain by fitting a less worn camshaft... i bet the 1.4 you have aint 75hp, probabbly 70hp... cvh camshafts are known for heavy wear and requiring renewal after 100k.

Yeah, Your right, I deffo aint got the full 75hp, What I might do is keep the car for a year, and maybe get me a 1.6 si, Escort, or even fiesta, My old man keeps catching My body work with wheel barrows and wacker plates, its a nightmare, Becoming disheartened with my little motor with dents and scratches appearing every time I look,

Re: Kent Camshafts,
should be on a plate attached to the top of the cylinder head. there are 2 plate one on the left and one on the right. If you don't have a number just send a covering note with the log book, saying you don't have a engine number for the vehicle.
