Moneypit update... Rodent infestation, mice powered RS2000?
Latest Purchases:
16point bolt in roll cage (will be gusseted and welded in) has pick up points for the front and rear suspension
it weighs 30kgs, which is uber light considering the amount of tubing
16" 57 plate fiesta alloys with brand new pirelli p zero neros - still considering track tyres, but they are big money.

Re: Moneypit update... Rodent infestation, mice powered RS2000?
dropped the RS off today next to money pit... having the roll cage delivered sunday, avo rang to say my rear dampers have had new rods, gas bags, seals o rings and oil and a repaint... for the bargin price of £67.93 including return postage.
I'm also after some 180-160 lb rear springs of around 10-12" but i'm sure burtonpower or similar will sort me out
I'm hoping to start the conversion the week after next, however it looks like i've fractured my wrist so may well be in need of help.

its a small part of a massive barn on an arable farm (no animals)
hence the plow thing, the white things are bags that used to have fertiliser in

Re: Moneypit update... Rodent infestation, mice powered RS2000?
to be honest it is, i bought it cheap just for the engine... i have no interest in fixing it nor the time to do anything with it, i offered a few people the chance to save it but they offered me stupidly low amounts of money for it

Re: Moneypit update... Rodent infestation, mice powered RS2000?
whats wrong with it?
and that cage, you going to have to cut big holes in the bulkhead to fit it?
the only other escort ive ever ereally seen with a cage lie that was a grey and white RS2000 in fast ford a while back, it did look a bit OTT

not big holes... :p
it has a rottern chassis rail needs two new drive shafts, gear linkage is worn possibly need wishbones doing and a rear wheel baring.. shell is great its been resprayed not a long time ago none of the usual arch / fuel cap rust i thought the interior had a leak but the carpet has dried up even though its been left outside, mot runs out in a week or two and i've just sent the tax back

Re: Moneypit update... Rodent infestation, mice powered RS2000?
just to recap todays fun: right basically, got down to the farm to start work to discover that mice had nested in my green car and were buys harvesting the RS of all its insulation... its only been there a week they'd also climbed under the car cover on the green on and were eating it from the inside out... bastards
so aftwer ripping all the insulation out and having a stern word with the mice (explaining that tomorrow i'll have the steam cleaner out) most of them left, not after chewing the labels off my harnesses and having a good munch on the sick on numberplate in the car, thankfully they hadn't eaten the brand new bucket seats or any of my sparce interior trim...
so after arsing around the RS fired up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cj0alTJEKrA
then i stripped and labelled all the engine electrical plugs as i'm not overly familiar with the I4 engine / management, founda mysterious valve on the o/s strut top that i named dave... stripped the cooling system, iscv and airbox assembly, just have to remove the gear linkage and fuel lines and the subframe can be dropped then i can painstakingly remove the wiring loom from the RS2000, chop the loom out of the green car and set about installing the complete RS loom in money pit massive task but hopefully i'm up to it

Re: Moneypit update... Rodent infestation, mice powered RS2000?
cheers guys, the mice weren't interested in the loom
another full day and more progress has been made
so the engine is ready to go in money pit... however first i have to painstakingly strip and label the loom in the RS
doesn't look much but i just have to remove the fuse box and the alarm then i can just cut the loom out of moneypit and carefully install the loom.
heres some pics of the goodies i've removed.
