1800 zetec MAF sensor upgrade?

when i upgrade my MAF sensor to a 2ltr one from a 1800 do i have
to cange the complete unit or just the sensor?

its not an upgrade its a parts mis match, is your 1.8 a 105 or a 130?

105 i think. how can i tell?

If the engine is a 1.8, use a 1.8 maf sensor.

Fitting a 2.0 maf to both of my 1.8's gave no gain in performance at all and in both cases, the mafs looked identical and had similar part numbers.

The only difference between the 105ps and later 115ps engines is the inlet manifold, throttle body and the bore of the air flow meter. The later 115ps air flow meteres are the same as 2.0 air flow meters.

the engine was out of a 1.8 escort si.
ive had to transfer all the stuff off my 1.8 xr2i
engine onto the si one. ive replaced the throttle body for a gti
one and noticed the cams were bigger in the si engine!

what else can i do to the engine whilst it is out

cams shouldn;t have been bigger, the same.

The escort si engine would be 115ps.

Fit some 2.0 cams in that and you got yourself 130ps fit the later 1.8 maf... from the escort si... it may not fit your air box... but fit the escort si air box and your laughing

ive got a escort gti ecu, is it worth putting that in my fez?

what kind of fez is it?

what ever the answer no - as a) it won't work without ford recoding it and you fitting a pats loom to your fiesta and then custom wiring it up.

fit a Mondeo ecu... 115ps, they are directly compatible for the fiesta's (Assuming it was a zetec fiesta.. fiesta si or xr2i 16v)

As for the Early si's yeah, i;ve seen a few early "pre 96" mk6's with the alloy inlet and 105ps engine... they have a smaller air box and the maf is indeed narrower.
