I'd personally tidy it up and keep it smart.
No massive mods... but a set of xr2i rims wouldn't go a miss Smile

If you love your mk3's then get a fez Si.
Thats a 1.6 zetec, only 90hp but when you get bored of that you can fit a mondeo 2.0 zetec in, you wont get bored in a hurry with that.

Or go newer, get a fez mk5... zetec S. 108hp but its the new ZETEC-S engine developed by yamaha... very revvy lil buggers.
The zetec S is insurance group 8.

If your mk3 fiesta is using the escorts insurance group for the 1.4, then its insurance group 5 (as mine went up to group 5)

How old are you Rob, as a 1.4 fez shouldnt cost loads to insure?

Cheers Dave

Im 23, But I also have 6 pts for IN10 (no insurance) Witch resulted in me having to re take the test and everything, I was with virgin money, and on a 1.1 fez, I was paying £1795.

When I got My engine changed, they said i have to be over 25 to be insured with this kind of swap,

So i switched to tesco, 6 pts, and engine change all in for £1369

I have not changed My log book yet, but will have to do it soon.

I was looking at a zetec s, but I drank my money down, And Had to settle for far less lol.

There was also a 1.6 si cfi for sale around My way. £450, But it had 100k plus on the clock, It kinda put me off,

Its a good job I dont know how many miles my 1.4 has done, What I dont know wont hurt Me Very Happy

The air box was a standard ford one like yours, but i cut away the sides and sprayed it blue. It still filtered the air, and was still tight around the filter. I had a spare air box, so i had a play.
The air box is restrictive, it only allows air to easily enter about 1/3 of the filter, so taking the sides off allowed air to be drawn in easier. but in cold weather it was rubbish.

Ah, well i'm 25.
2 years ago (in april) i wrote of my old escort and an 17k merc at the same time.
So insurance is always a pain.
I too have 3 points, tho i got them in 2002 and no longer have to declare them.

My GTi is group 13.

At the time of the accident i had 3 years no claims, i lost 2 due to claiming.
I currently have 2 years no claims and will have 3 in november.

I'm paying £530 fully comp.

Jaysus Dave, Thats a bit of bad luck mate,

I used to drive a 1.8 Diesel fiesta, I wraped that round a fence aswel, I loved that car, bought me over to Ireland, And done 1500 miles while I was there, plus bringin it back to London.

Your Insurance sounds cheap, Well, I suppose thats what You get with a good few driving years under Your belt.

Cheers

when you get older it's better, and nothing exciting happens at 25 with insurance, it justs you get more places to get quotes from.

well that quote of £530 was when i was 24, i turned 25 a month ago... so by renewal it should be better... but with the claim looming over me for the next 3 years... oh well...

P.S - I was totally at fault for the accident i had, i overtook a car then realised i was approahing a corner... braked, skidded into oncomming traffic and bounced off the oncomming merc and sideways thru the wall into a field.

This was my old pride an joy...

Do you mean fit 6x9s into a fiesta door? They won't go in the original position easily, 6" are a struggle. Best really would be a set of components for the front. I probably wouldn't go for that range of sonys either. I had a set of 5" that were old but quite good, but my mate had a set of speakers in one of the newer range and the sound quality was pretty bad

The red escort WAS a nice car. 136hp form the 1.8.
Its a shame the brakes were made from mini cheddars Sad

The Black GTi is my replacement... i bought it 3 days after the accident.. found it on ebay and went to view... paid a deposit and collected it 2 days later.

Anyway, i;ve hi-jacked your thread enough.

The stripe wire is goes to the little pin on speakers.
Keep the same polarity on the speakers and they will all be in phase.

Lol, MK I Fiesta 1300GL, 1340cc, 7500rpm if you dare, headwork, cam, XR2 carb, tubular manifold, stainless exhaust, piperx filter, aftermarket complete replacement ignition, just needs setting up really - 89 BHP last time it went on the rollers.... which isn't bad in a car that weighs 750kg or so (nearly 900 with a full tank and me in it mind...)

Fair play for reaching those kind of figures for a 1300, I think Ill leave You well alone for the time being,

I wonder what can be done to My 1400 block to gain more hp, I bought some bosh preformance plugs 2day, stuck em in, and the car runs a whole lot smoother,

Like dave said, No point doing too mutch with My Lump, Just tidy her apperance up alittle, Just won a set of alloys on ebay, Kinda half regreting it now, They look quite plane, What You recon Lads
